Rice Husk Pellet Mill

Rice husk has many names, the most common being husk, hull, and chaff. It is largely considered as a waste product that farmers struggled to dispose of due to its large volume (20% of total rice crop). Today rice husk is not waste anymore in most countries, it can be turned into useful treasure-pellets by a simple technical process. Start your rice husk pellets business at once to give a second life for rice husk.
Rice Husk Properties
Rice husk is the outermost layer of rice grain, around 20% of paddy weight. With yellowish color and convex shape, rice husk is slight larger than a grain of rice, possessing the length of 5mm-10mm, or 2.5mm-5mm and the thickness of 25μm-30μm. It is light in weight, having a bulk density of 100kg/m3 to 140kg/m3. After pelletizing, the bulk density increases to 340kg/m3 – 400kg/m3. According to the research on rice husk, carbon and oxygen content in rice husk is nearly 35%-38%. What’s more important, its sulfur content is close to zero. In other words, rice husk is an ideal raw material for biomass pellets.

Comparison of Rice Husk and Wood
Rice husk is always used as a burning material for its caloric value is about 14MJ/Kg. Comparing with wood, rice husk is also proved to be an effective biomass materials. The component comparison of the rick husk and wood is shown in the following form for your reference.

Property Carbon Hydrogen Oxygen Nitrogen Sulphur
Rice husk 38.7% 5% 36% 0.5% 0.1%
Wood 48% 6.5% 43% 0.5% NA

Flat Die Rice Husk Pellet Mill
Rice husk pellet machine is professionally capable of processing rice husk into pellets for home heating, cooking and animal bedding. Rice husk has a low moisture content, so drying is usually not necessary before pelletizing. Rice husk can go straight into pellet machine for pelletizing, provided that the diameter of rice husk is less than 3mm. The capacity of our flat die pellet mill ranges from 50-550kg/h, you can choose appropriate machine according to your practical needs or we can recommend suitable model for you if you can tell us your requests.

Advantages of Turning Rice Husk into Pellets
1.Long combustion time.
Biomass pellets made from rice husk can be burned efficiently and sufficiently, the combustion rate of rice husk can be as high as 95%.
2.Convenient.
When rice husks are pressed into pellets, the bulk density is greatly increased, which makes it convenient for transportation and storage in large quantity. On the other hand, the small and uniform shaped rice husk pellets contribute to easy feeding of automated heating system.
3.Environmental friendly.
Comparing with the burning of rice husk, the burning of rice husk pellets is much more cleaner. The ash content is about 15%-16% when burning directly which will be largely decreased to 6%-7% when it is burned in pellet form. Besides, Rice husk pellets have no visible smoke at all during the burning.
4.Wide application.
Rice husk can be applied in many aspects. It can be burned in heating furnaces, boilers, pellets stoves, and other heating systems.

How to Make Rice Husk Pellets
The following is complete rice husk production line:
1.Crushing: before pelletizing, the size of material should be less than 3mm. You can pelletize it directly if the raw material meets this criterion. Otherwise, you need a rice husk hammer mill for pre-processing.
2.Pelletizing: flat die rice husk pellet press is the most economical equipment which has high production efficiency and competitive price.
3.Cooling: the final pellets have higher temperature and moisture content, according to the output of rice husk pellets, you can choose air-dry or a cooler to cool down the pellets.
4.Packing: the last step is also important, packing and storing in a silo or bags can protect effectively rice husk before using.

A small pellet mill plant without cooler and packager is also a ideal equipment for making pellets.
